Milton Friedman was an American economist and statistician best known for his strong Led by Friedman, the Chicago School was the most influential group of economists to extend a market centered rationality (which is often called neoliberalism) into American culture and politics, a process which was accelerated by anti-communist sentiment in the Cold War era. With George Stigler and others, Friedman was among the intellectual leaders of the Chicago school of economics, a neoclassical school of economic thought associated with the work of the faculty at the University of Chicago that rejected Keynesianism in favor of monetarism until the mid-1970s, when it turned to new classical macroeconomics heavily based on the concept of rational expectations. In 1951, Milton Friedman did publish an essay entitled “ Neo-Liberalism and its Prospects,” but he later abandoned the label. Neoliberalism also seems too elastic a concept to be meaningful.
