Logical or deductive reasoning involves using a given set of facts or data to deduce other facts by reasoning logically. It involves drawing specific conclusions based on premises. Transitive inference, or linear syllogistic reasoning, is one of the simplest forms of logical reasoning, and involves combining two premises R(a,b) and R(b,c) to draw the conclusion that R(a,c). Circling back to Deductive Reasoning, this thought process goes from general, to theory, to specific, to assessing the correctness of the observation and if the observation is false the line of Deductive Reasoning starts all over again.
